Abstract
Sexually transmissible diseases (STDs) have been on the
public health agenda for a long time. In addition to
personal suffering, some STDs have been linked to the
increased transmission of other infections such as HIV,
and to physical complications, including pelvic
inflammatory disease, infertility and cancer.
