Abstract

Good nutrition is a major factor affecting not only an individual’s growth and development but also general physical and mental health and quality of life. Poor nutrition is a well-established risk factor for development of chronic and life-threatening diseases such as cardiovascular disease (including coronary heart disease and stroke), some cancers, and type 2 diabetes.
