Abstract

Unintentional poisoning is a major cause of morbidity in infants and young children. In NSW in 1995–96, unintentional poisoning was the second most common cause of injury-related hospitalisation in children aged under five years. Despite this, there is a dearth of information in NSW describing the substances and risk factors involved in serious poisoning.
