Abstract
Since the late 1980s there has been renewed international interest in sexual health, corresponding with the advent and spread of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Many countries have conducted national surveys of sexual health risk factors and behaviours, to collect reliable information about sexual behaviour to predict and control the spread of HIV–AIDS.
