Abstract

This issue of the NSW Public Health Bulletin is the second in a series of two to focus on vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs). In particular, the theme of this issue is the surveillance of VPDs, including the application of routine surveillance data to VPDs targeted by well established programs (for example, pertussis), enhanced surveillance of diseases more recently targeted by vaccines (for example, pneumococcal disease), and the use of new methods of surveillance in the Australian context (for example, serosurveillance).
