Abstract

The seasonal variation in arbovirus infections (which peak in autumn), invasive pneumococcal disease and meningococcal disease (both of which peak in winter) are reflected in Figure 1. In contrast to previous years when Ross River virus has predominated, most of the mosquito-borne arbovirus infections notified this year have been Barmah Forest virus, which has been most common in the coastal areas to the north of Sydney
