Abstract

Surveillance data have shown that in February of each year there are recurrent and distinct peaks of admissions for asthma to hospitals in Sydney. Anecdotal reports suggested that during February 1999 admission rates for asthma to the intensive care units of the Sydney Children’s and New Children’s Hospitals were unusually high, even when allowing for seasonal peaks in admission.
